Summer in Saugatuck | Family Session

As I was headed to this session the sky started turning black to the west and the wind started really blowing. Like branches breaking off trees and laying on the highway blowing. I was headed to meet Kailey and her family who were up for the week from Georgia to spend time in a place near and dear to their hearts, Saugatuck, MI. They were eager to run out of the house and quick try before the rain set in. We scrambled down to the beach and it ended up being one of the most fun family sessions I’ve ever had. Normally (and rightfully so) the high winds and rain would have turned smiles into frowns and a session being cancelled. But not this family. They were exactly the opposite. Loving on each other, playing, yelling, jumping into Lake Michigan, letting the kids be kids and just really loving spending time with each other. After the beach we headed to the Yacht Club with the kids soaked head to toe to take a few pictures of somewhere that has been a part of their lives for years. Making bets with the kids to jump into the marina to fish out $5 bills was hysterical and ended up with a few of the adults being pushed in too. After the session I headed back to the beach where the sunset ended up being wildly beautiful and counting my blessings. I left this session going “wow, that family knows what its all about.”
